Content permission sets
💡 Permission on Content Items (who can download, edit, view)
Content Permission Sets are applicable to all Content Items. Users can only apply these if their user roles are listed with at least Apply permission in the Permission Set Permissions of each permission set and if they have sufficient access to the content item.
Permission | What does it mean | Notes |
View | Can view and download all content item outputs except for the Original file. Can also see extracted metadata of a content item. | To view the layer and the values of a layer assigned to a content item you will also need the View permission on the relevant schema. |
Access original | Access to the original file. | Access to the original alone does not give the user access to the content item itself. The user also needs View permissions on the content. The permission Access Original is used e.g. for brochures to make sure to get the PDF. View and Access original are not additive and can be granted in a permission set individually. Edit to Delete will automatically add View and Access original. |

Edit metadata | Add or edit layers the user has schema permissions on to a content item. | |
Edit content | Can replace the original file of a content item. | Virtual types do not have an original file and the file can therefore not be replaced. |
Manage historic versions | Can create historic versions (if enabled for your Picturepark). | Historic versions are not available for virtual types. |
Manage permissions |
| The user needs apply or manage permission on a permission set to be able to apply a permission set. |
Delete |

Permission not applied | Only the owner of the content item and users with the Super Admin user role assigned have access to the content item. |
Please note extracted metadata from a file is accessible to all users with content view permissions by default. Editors can apply content permission set to the system EXIF and XMP metadata layers to restrict access.
